The triumphant return of Ital Tek comes in the form of a varied 5-tracker for the Mu, headed out by a title track deployed in a nicely darkened-up Wonky style, all lazer synths and grimey textures with one eye glancing at trends every once in awhile. “Snowburst” is the second track, utilizing a much sweeter palette with a spacious, classic AI heart beating at the core of a classic “Ovuca”-style melody, while “Strange Love” ends the side with a techno-fied low-end hybrid executed with considerable panache. Over on the flip ‘Octa” employs a jittery, steppy formula to another sweetened IDM template, leaving “Ghost Cloud” to end the twelve with a slightly dubbier rendition complete with another fabulously spacious arrangement. Delicious little 12″, perfectly bridging the old and the new in electronic music.
