thought i posted this; guess not. my favorite from the newly released The Bells Sketch EP. the “joy” or whatever in this tune is much more suppressed than usual; the faintly heard R&Bish chords that start halfway through never surface with the complete intensity one would normally expect them to build to. then, suddenly, Blake hits you over the head with a squealing mid-range synth in a moment of absolute catharsis and insanity that lasts no more than a couple seconds before disappearing entirely into the original riddim.

i suppose it falls on the more “haunting” side of his work, but i’ll fight any man who argues against its beauty.
